Paris Saint-Germain concluded a remarkable week by claiming a 3-1 victory over arch-rivals Marseille at Parc des Princes on Sunday. Manager Luis Enrique boldly affirmed the club’s aspirations, declaring their intention to secure every available trophy this season.
With this triumph, PSG bolstered their position at the summit of Ligue 1, now leading by 19 points after defeating second-placed Marseille. This follows their impressive elimination of six-time European champions Liverpool from the Champions League’s round of 16 earlier in the week.
As they pursue their elusive Champions League title, PSG has also secured a spot in the semi-finals of the French Cup, having previously claimed the Trophee des Champions in January. They will also represent in the FIFA Club World Cup set to kick off in June.
“This week has been extraordinary for us. Classics like these always fire up the players from both sides, and I believe we delivered a fantastic performance tonight,” said Luis Enrique during the press conference.
“It’s challenging to have possession against Marseille, and even more so against PSG. Both coaches sought to outthink the other. After our match with Liverpool, we were eager for this classic encounter, which kept us sharp and focused.”
“I’m truly pleased with my team and grateful for the unwavering support from our fans. Our objective is to secure Ligue 1 and capture every trophy possible. We understand the magnitude of the challenge ahead and are diligently working every day towards our goals.”
PSG’s next match is against AS Saint-Etienne in Ligue 1 on March 29th.
