The grandson of legendary player Arthur Beetson has secured a three-year contract with the Roosters, the club where the celebrated Immortal excelled as both captain and coach nearly half a century ago.
Billy Beetson, just 15 years old, has demonstrated remarkable promise in the Roosters’ junior league, prompting the club to extend a commitment to him until the end of 2027.
Currently training with the Roosters’ Harold Matts team, Billy is holding his own among teammates who are his seniors.
“Today marks a very proud moment for our family,” stated Mark Beetson, Billy’s father, in an interview with Wide World of Sports.

“To say he’s thrilled would be an understatement; our family will continue to support him every step of the way as he pursues his dreams.
“I know Dad would have taken immense pride in seeing his grandson don the Roosters’ colours.”

Considered one of the finest forwards of his generation, Beetson originally hailed from Redcliffe before making his way to Sydney in the 1960s, where he joined Balmain. However, it was at the Roosters where he truly made his mark, leading the club to back-to-back grand final victories in 1974 and 1975.
He later enjoyed considerable success as the team’s coach.
