In their encounter on the Gold Coast, both the Titans and Dolphins faced early setbacks as they each lost a player during the first half, a clear indication of the NRL’s ongoing focus on regulating high-contact play.
It was Titans captain Tino Fa’asuamaleaui who first found himself in trouble, receiving a sin bin penalty for a high tackle on Felise Kaufusi right in the match’s opening set.
Although Fa’asuamaleaui initially dodged punishment, the Bunker alerted referee Wyatt Raymond, prompting the decision to send the imposing forward off for a spell.
Without Fa’asuamaleaui on the pitch, the Dolphins seized their opportunity, quickly applying pressure before Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow burst through for a try in the ninth minute.

Prior to this, Jamayne Isaako had exploited a gap before shrugging off a feeble tackle attempt from AJ Brimson, linking up with Tabuai-Fidow who capped off the play with a try.
The Dolphins quickly added another, with Daniel Saifiti skilfully muscling his way over from close range.

Despite three Titans players trying to stop him, Saifiti’s strength proved too much as he powered past Jaylen De Groot for the try.
In the 30th minute, Ray Stone joined the list of sin-binned players after a swinging arm connected, sending the Dolphins lock off for a repeat of the earlier high-contact incident.
Stone’s tackle was deemed to have made direct contact with the head at a moderate intensity.

After the hit, Gray remained on the ground while the Titans’ medical team rushed to provide assistance.
By half-time, the Dolphins had a commanding lead over the Titans at 16-0, following a successful penalty conversion from Isaako.
Earlier in the round, players Hudson Young from the Raiders and Reece Robson from the Cowboys were also sin binned for similar infringements.
During the second half, Jaimin Jolliffe faced a report for a high shoulder charge.
