Bayern Munich has confirmed that midfielder Jamal Musiala will be out of action for a while after suffering a hamstring tear, adding to the woes of the already injury-stricken squad.
The 22-year-old was assisted off the pitch during the second half of Bayern’s 3-1 victory against Augsburg on Friday, having indicated to the bench while clutching the back of his left thigh.
In an official statement released on Saturday, Bayern declared they would “be without Jamal Musiala for the foreseeable future” following an “assessment by the club’s medical team.”
While the club did not specify a timeline for Musiala’s recovery, reports from domestic media suggest he could be sidelined for approximately six to eight weeks due to the severity of the tear.
This period is critical for Bayern as they compete in both the Champions League and Bundesliga.
Bayern will host Inter Milan in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday, followed by the return fixture in Italy the subsequent Wednesday.
Additionally, they have six Bundesliga matches remaining and currently maintain a nine-point lead over second-placed Bayer Leverkusen, who have a game in hand.
The stakes are elevated further with the Champions League final scheduled for May 31st at Bayern’s Allianz Arena.
After the European season concludes, Bayern will participate in the expanded Club World Cup in the United States in July.

Currently, Bayern is grappling with an injury crisis, with numerous first-team players dealing with extended absences.
In particular, defenders Alphonso Davies, Dayot Upamecano, and Hiroki Ito are likely to miss the rest of the season due to various injuries.
Also unavailable are captain and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, winger Kingsley Coman, and midfielder Aleksandar Pavlovic, all of whom have uncertain recovery timelines.
Bayern’s star striker, Harry Kane, left the stadium in Augsburg with a heavily bandaged ankle, but he reassured fans that the injury was “just a minor one – I’m not concerned.”
Musiala’s injury raises doubts about his participation in Germany’s Nations League matches scheduled for June.
The national team is set to face Portugal in the Nations League semi-finals in Munich on June 4th, followed by a possible final at the same venue four days later.
Musiala has become an integral part of Julian Nagelsmann’s revitalised Germany squad.
