Paris Saint-Germain secured the Ligue 1 title for the 2024/25 season following a decisive 1-0 victory at home against Angers, courtesy of a stunning volley from Desire Doue. With this win, PSG becomes the first French top-tier team to remain unbeaten in their opening 28 matches since the 1994/95 season.
The atmosphere at Parc des Princes was electric as the home side aimed to clinch their 13th Ligue 1 championship against Angers.
However, Les Noirs et Blancs almost pulled off an early shock, as Willian Pacho’s challenge on Esteban Lepaul in the box led to vehement appeals for a penalty, but referee Marc Bollengier waved away the protests.
PSG soon dominated possession and began to pose a threat to Angers’ goal, though Les Parisiens struggled to replicate the clinical finishing that had seen them net 13 goals in their previous three encounters. Gonçalo Ramos came close, heading over from just six yards out.

Vitinha also came close to scoring his first Ligue 1 goal since early February, forcing a superb fingertip save from Yahia Fofana with a powerful strike from distance just before the break.
Failing to break the deadlock in the first half, PSG quickly found their rhythm in the second, with Doue volleying home Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s cross from close range, marking the team’s 12th consecutive home match in Ligue 1 where they have scored first.
A wave of chances for the home side followed, with Fabian Ruiz coming closest to extending PSG’s lead, only to be denied by another solid save from Fofana.
Under the guidance of Luis Enrique, PSG has marched to the Ligue 1 title with six matches remaining. However, the Parisian giants still have significant ambitions in both the UEFA Champions League and the Coupe de France.
At the other end of the table, Angers find themselves in a precarious situation, remaining at risk of relegation after suffering five straight losses in Ligue 1 without scoring—something that hasn’t happened since May 1980.
