Daly Cherry-Evans has reportedly confirmed his intentions regarding his future in the State of Origin series, with the Maroons eager to reclaim the shield.
Michael Chammas, a reporter for 9news and the Sydney Morning Herald, disclosed on Nine’s 100% Footy that Cherry-Evans has “no plans to make himself unavailable” for Queensland.
Phil Gould and Paul Gallen both concurred, expressing certainty that he would always be in contention.
“Absolutely, no doubt about it,” they agreed.

The confirmation from Cherry-Evans is sure to come as a relief to coach Billy Slater, especially given that possible replacements like Sam Walker are currently sidelined due to injury. Other contenders such as Tom Dearden, Ben Hunt, Jamal Fogarty, and Braydon Trindall also emerged as options.
The Manly half-back sent shockwaves through the league in March with his announcement to depart the club.

However, when asked about his future in Origin, the 36-year-old expressed a strong desire to represent Queensland once more.
“That’s definitely a priority for me,” Cherry-Evans stated.
“In terms of the aspects of the game that I truly enjoy, while I may not be fond of weights or cardio sessions, there’s nothing quite like playing State of Origin.”

“… It would indeed be very difficult to turn down the opportunity to play Origin again this year.”

Just nine days ago, Maroons coach Billy Slater mentioned on Nine’s Sunday Footy Show that he was uncertain about Cherry-Evans’ plans for the future.
“I’d be taken aback if he chose not to play,” he remarked.
