Andrew McDonald, Australia’s coach, has affirmed that Mitch Marsh’s international career is not over, despite the news of his serious injury that has sidelined him from participating in the Champions Trophy.
This setback follows Marsh’s exclusion from the Test squad for the SCG match last month.
The announcement regarding Marsh’s back injury was made on Friday, ruling him out of the ODI tournament scheduled in Pakistan and the UAE.
According to a statement from Cricket Australia, Marsh’s injury has not responded positively to rehabilitation efforts.

Despite Marsh’s struggles prior to this injury, McDonald remained optimistic regarding the West Australian’s future in the national setup.
“We believe he has a bright future ahead of him,” he told reporters following Australia’s victory against Sri Lanka.
“He’s currently facing some challenges, and while I’m not completely privy to the specifics of the injury, it’s unfortunate that he will miss the Champions Trophy.”
“He remains a key part of this group moving forward; there’s still plenty he can contribute.”
When it comes to who will replace Marsh in the Champions Trophy, McDonald kept his cards close to his chest.
However, he did mention that Beau Webster, who stepped in for Marsh in the Test squad, “is certainly in contention.”
“He will be considered for selection, along with Aaron Hardie and Marcus Stoinis, who are also in the squad,” he added.
“… Beau Webster is definitely in the frame.”
