South Africa is enlisting the expertise of a notorious figure from the Ashes series as they gear up for the World Test Championship final next week.
According to the UK Telegraph, the Proteas have welcomed former English fast bowler Stuart Broad into their camp to assist in preparing the men’s team for the crucial showdown.
The clash for the prestigious mace will take place at Lord’s in London, where Australia will defend their title after triumphing over India in the previous WTC final in 2023.
While the Aussies are favoured to secure victory, South Africa’s route to the final has faced scrutiny due to the calibre of opponents they encountered recently.

However, Broad remains a valuable asset for South Africa, known for having tortured Australian batsmen and supporters for nearly two decades.
The veteran’s last appearance was in the final Test of the 2023 Ashes series at The Oval.
Earlier in that series, he clashed with the Australians at Lord’s regarding Alex Carey’s controversial stumping of Jonny Bairstow.
Over his impressive 16-year Test career, Broad bagged 153 wickets against Australia at an average of 28.96 across 40 matches.

On home soil, Broad succeeded in dismissing Australians 106 times at an average of 26.65.
Interestingly, his performances at Lord’s, often referred to as the ‘home of cricket’, weren’t as fruitful; he managed just 17 wickets at an average of 34.70 across five Tests.
Nevertheless, South Africa is keen for Broad to share his insights with fast bowlers like Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen, hoping to secure a critical edge over Australia.
As for the Australians, they have yet to finalise their squad for the upcoming match, with players such as Sam Konstas, Beau Webster, Scott Boland, and Josh Inglis potentially at risk of missing out from the 15-player roster.
