Western Sydney Wanderers head coach Alen Stajcic has secured a two-season contract extension, ensuring his position until the conclusion of the 2026-27 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
As a local from Western Sydney, Stajcic returned to lead the Wanderers in 2024, guiding the team from a seventh-place finish at the end of the 2023-24 season to a commendable fourth spot in his inaugural season in charge.

Under Stajcic’s management, the Wanderers concluded the regular season with an impressive 12-game unbeaten streak, notching up an impressive 58 goals—the highest tally in the league.
A 2-1 defeat against Melbourne Victory in the Elimination Finals marked the end of Stajcic’s first tenure at the club, but with a new multi-year deal inked, he is keen to build upon the significant progress made during the 2024-25 season in the upcoming years.

“I am incredibly honoured to have the chance to continue my journey with the club,” Stajcic remarked.
“In this privileged position, it has been fantastic to witness the strides we have taken as a football club. The A-League Men’s side achieving so much—from qualifying for the Finals Series to our unbeaten three-month run, along with a positive attacking mindset—has been truly satisfying.
“However, the most gratifying elements this season have been the resurgence of fan engagement and the strong crowd figures towards the season’s end, coupled with the culture and leadership fostered by our staff and players.
“While we’ve achieved a lot, the ultimate successes remain elusive, and we must now push harder to continue to develop the team and grow our fanbase to achieve the results we aspire to.
“There’s still a lot of work ahead, and I’m eagerly looking forward to the start of the 2025-26 season.”

Stajcic’s side showed remarkable prowess in the latter half of his first season, with standout players Nicolas Milanovic and Brandon Borrello contributing 34 goal involvements to propel Western Sydney into their fourth-place finish.
Milanovic, who scored 12 goals and provided six assists, earned the Johnny Warren Medal, but his recent transfer to Scottish Premiership club Aberdeen for a record fee leaves a significant gap in the attack that Stajcic must address as he heads into his second season at the Wanderers.
Following the announcement of Stajcic’s two-season extension, Wanderers CEO Scott Hudson emphasised the strong connection between Stajcic and the local community, which has been pivotal in the club’s transformation during his first year.
“Alen has done an exceptional job in his first season,” said Hudson.
“His leadership, connection to the area, and commitment to success have played a vital role in our progress this season.”
“We are delighted to have him secured for the next two years and eagerly anticipate what lies ahead under his leadership.”
