Paris Saint-Germain have demonstrated that star players are not a prerequisite for success, as they clinched the Ligue 1 title with six matches remaining. Manager Luis Enrique expressed the team’s ambition to finish the season undefeated following their recent victory over Angers.
The 1-0 win at Parc des Princes marked PSG’s fourth consecutive Ligue 1 title and their record-extending 13th overall.
With the possibility of surpassing Nantes’ long-standing record of 32 unbeaten games, PSG are motivated to achieve what no French club has done before – completing an entire league season without a loss.
“Winning the title in early April signifies that we have reached an exceptional level this season. While we have accomplished this goal, we still have more matches ahead of us,” Luis Enrique told the media.
“We are keen to try and go through the season unbeaten. Achieving this would be historic in France and would also serve us well in the Champions League and the Coupe de France.”
Despite concerns from fans regarding Luis Enrique’s ability to secure another title after Kylian Mbappe’s departure last season, the Spanish manager has produced impressive results.
In need of filling the void left by Mbappe’s 27 goals from the previous season, PSG’s forward line rose to the occasion, with Ousmane Dembele leading the scoring spree with 21 goals, supported by Bradley Barcola’s 13 goals.
The era of depending solely on Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and Neymar for goals has passed, with 18 different players contributing to PSG’s tally of 80 goals in just 28 games, well on track to surpass last season’s total of 81 goals in 34 matches.
“I consider myself fortunate to work with players who possess the intelligence and versatility to excel in both attacking and defending,” remarked Luis Enrique.
“Seeing the team work collectively in both phases of the game confirms that my vision of 11 players engaging in both attack and defence has been realised.”
“This is what I have sought for many months. I appreciate it, and so do the fans.”

PSG’s dominance is evident, having dropped points in just five draws, and their latest victory against Angers has extended their winning streak to nine matches in Ligue 1. This perfect record since February has left their competitors struggling to keep pace.
Looking ahead, PSG are targeting additional silverware, with a Champions League quarter-final clash against Aston Villa on the horizon and the Coupe de France final against Stade de Reims set for next month.
“With two months left in the season, we are in excellent shape,” Luis Enrique concluded.
“Our objective is to continue our fight and advance as far as possible in the Champions League.”
