Jake Lehmann has played a vital innings, scoring a century that has put South Australia in a dominant position during the Sheffield Shield final against Queensland.
The son of former Test batsman and coach Darren Lehmann struck 15 boundaries to reach three figures, as the Redbacks established a 176-run lead in their first innings.
The left-handed batsman concluded his innings on 102 runs from 151 balls as the hosts were all out for 271, in response to Queensland’s meagre total of 95 in their initial innings at Karen Rolton Oval.
This achievement marked the 14th first-class century of Lehmann’s career.
“The local hero with arms raised – what an outstanding century,” remarked one commentator.

The crowd at Karen Rolton Oval is on their feet, cheering for the veteran of the South Australian side, who has enjoyed a fantastic March, capped off with this century in the Sheffield Shield final.
If they secure victory in the decider, it would be a remarkable full-circle moment for the Lehmann family, as Darren was part of South Australia’s last title-winning side back in 1996.
Queensland’s second innings had a much improved start compared to their first outing, with the visitors losing their first and only wicket at 39 runs.
Usman Khawaja (21) was the first player dismissed, allowing Test teammate and Bulls captain Marnus Labuschagne to join opener Angus Lovell at the crease.
