Jarome Luai is now in a waiting game as he anticipates the decision from the match review committee regarding the judiciary report. He was officially noted for high contact during the Tigers’ narrow 26-24 defeat against the Warriors.
In the early stages of the second half, Luai joined the tackle on Edward Kosi as the third man in, making high contact that resulted in an immediate penalty.
The Tigers’ halfback was put on report after he argued with the referee that his contact was with Kosi’s shoulder.

Fox League commentator Warren Smith highlighted that, in previous seasons, Luai might have faced harsher consequences and been sent to the sheds for a break.

“It appears that there’s been a shift in enforcement regarding high contact to the head, which is now considered a sin-bin offence in 2025,” he noted.
Kosi temporarily left the field for a head injury assessment but made his return later in the match.

The match began tumultuously for the Tigers, as Adam Doueihi was sidelined during the warm-up due to a groin injury.
The game showcased a back-and-forth battle right from the kick-off, ending the first half in a 12-12 deadlock. Fonua Pole and Starford To’a crossed for the Tigers, while Adam Pompey and Marata Niukore scored for the Warriors.
After the break, Warriors half Luke Metcalf helped his side take the lead, but two tries from the Tigers briefly suggested they might run away with the win, pushing the score to 24-18 in their favour.
However, Leka Halasima’s try with just 10 minutes to go evened up the score again.
Soon after, Alex Seyfarth was also placed on report for a high shot on Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad. Metcalf converted the penalty, allowing the Warriors to secure a vital away victory.
