Following a thrilling victory over PSV, Ajax supporters were buzzing as they awaited the arrival of their players and staff back in Amsterdam. Manager Francesco Farioli addressed the enthusiastic fans who had gathered.
Ajax claimed a 2-0 victory in what could prove to be a pivotal clash in the title chase. The Amsterdam outfit now boasts a nine-point cushion over PSV with just seven matches left to play—historically, no team in Eredivisie has ever squandered such a significant lead at this stage of the season.
Back in Amsterdam, fans were keen to extend a warm welcome to the team after yet another remarkable win. Following a raucous reception filled with fireworks and flares, Farioli stepped up to speak to the supporters.
“I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you for your unwavering support since the beginning of the season. Seven matches! Seven battles! We’re not finished yet. Together, until the end!”
The 35-year-old Farioli took the reins at Ajax at the beginning of this season. Previously managing Nice and Alanyaspor, he stepped in after the team finished fifth, a staggering 35 points behind champions PSV, marking their lowest finish since the start of the century.
Should Ajax secure the title this season, it will mark their first triumph since Erik ten Hag’s departure in the summer of 2022.
