The consequences of Dylan Brown’s forthcoming transfer to Newcastle are unfolding, leading to young talent Will Pryce receiving an early release from the club.
At just 22, Pryce joined the Knights last season heralded as a promising playmaker from the Super League but played only five games at the top level.
With Fletcher Sharpe and Jack Cogger favoured in the halves early this season, Pryce’s standing within the team has diminished, while Brown is set to join the ranks in 2026.
On Monday morning, the Knights announced that the English playmaker would be returning to his home country to sign a long-term deal with a Super League club.
“Newcastle Knights have approved Will Pryce’s request for an immediate release on compassionate grounds, enabling him to return to England for personal and professional reasons,” the statement disclosed.

“Pryce has secured a multi-year contract with a Super League team, and the Knights were keen to support his opportunity to be closer to his family.
“The Newcastle Knights extend their gratitude to Will for his contributions over the past few seasons, and both parties have consented to keep all details private.”

Pryce is expected to sign with Hull FC immediately.
Newcastle still retains options at half-back for next year in Cogger, Sharpe, and Tyson Gamble, while Jackson Hastings is set to be off-contract at the conclusion of the 2025 season.
