Adelaide midfielder James Peatling is expected to come under scrutiny from the Match Review Officer (MRO) following a dangerous tackle on Brisbane’s Lachie Neale.
The incident unfolded during the first quarter of their match, which was played in wet conditions at Adelaide Oval.
“He’s been reported for rough conduct,” the closest umpire could be heard stating as the aftermath unfolded.

Tasked with tagging the two-time Brownlow Medallist, Peatling pinned Neale’s arms before sending him crashing to the ground.
Neale’s head struck the turf, yet he continued to play without undergoing a concussion assessment.
This incident ignited a fracas between both teams, with the two midfielders at the epicentre.
However, the commotion was short-lived as play resumed shortly after.

Geelong great Jimmy Bartel expressed surprise that Brisbane’s medical staff didn’t take Neale off for a concussion evaluation.
“If you’re grabbing your head, you should be coming off if we’re serious about concussion,” Bartel remarked on 3AW following the match.
Former Essendon captain Matthew Lloyd is uncertain how the MRO will interpret the incident, given the inconsistent decisions throughout the season.
“If Neale had to leave and was ruled out for the day, Peatling would likely face a three-week suspension. Will that happen now? It seems to be a matter of luck,” Lloyd stated.
Earlier in the season, Peatling served a one-match suspension for a similar dangerous tackle against Geelong.
