Cameron Green is gearing up to make his much-anticipated return from injury this week, with the Australian all-rounder likely to take the field for Gloucestershire.
The 25-year-old has been absent due to a back injury he sustained last September but is expected to participate in several County Championship matches over the upcoming two months.
Green aims to bolster his case for inclusion in the Australian squad before the World Test Championship final against South Africa in June, where he would be utilised purely as a batsman.
The right-handed batter revealed that he could have played in last month’s Sheffield Shield final had Western Australia made it through, but he now feels ready to return to action.

“The surgery went exceptionally well,” Green remarked.
“This is all about the long-term goal of playing cricket for as long as possible and bowling effectively. I opted for the surgery with that goal in mind. Sure, I could have taken nine months to heal, but I’m hopeful that this is the last I’ll have to deal with the issue.”
Green will join a Gloucestershire team led by Cameron Bancroft, who is also working to revive his Test career.
The former Australian opener made headlines last week with a century in a draw against Glamorgan, making runs in English conditions crucial as they approach the WTC finals at Lord’s.
Another rising talent in the County competition is young pacer Fergus O’Neill, who has just enjoyed a stellar first-class season back home.

The 23-year-old recently earned the title of Sheffield Shield Player of the Year, capturing 38 wickets for Victoria and positioning himself for elevated recognition.
O’Neill has continued his impressive form in the UK, beginning his campaign with Nottinghamshire magnificently, having taken 11 wickets in just two matches.
Other Australians making waves in the County competition include Brendan Doggett, Marcus Harris, and Peter Handscomb, while Test stars Marnus Labuschagne and Beau Webster are expected to join their teams soon for valuable experience in red-ball cricket.
