Adelaide United have announced that Lucía León and Tiarna Karambasis have both officially left the club following the end of their Ninja A-League contracts.
León, who represents the Dominican Republic at the international level, joined Adelaide from Watford FC prior to the start of the 2024-25 Ninja A-League season, making 26 appearances for the Reds during her debut campaign in Australia.
Her performance was instrumental in helping Adelaide rise from a last-place finish in the 2023-24 season to clinch third position by season’s end.
Following the announcement of León’s exit, Adelaide confirmed that the 27-year-old will pursue a new opportunity with another A-League club, having voluntarily turned down a substantial contract offer to stay with the Reds.
“I’m grateful for the warm welcome — this year will be a highlight of my career,” León shared.
“Every moment in this city and playing for these amazing fans has been a joy. There’s something truly unique developing here, and I hope it continues to thrive.”
Meanwhile, Karambasis brings her time at the Reds to a close after appearing in 22 matches under head coach Adrian Stenta in the 2024-25 season.
“I’m thankful to the coaching staff, the fans, and the club for making me feel at home this season,” Karambasis expressed.
“I’ve had the pleasure of meeting incredible people in Adelaide and am proud to have been part of their most successful season to date.”
