Barcelona is gearing up for a demanding run of matches as they strive for silverware on three fronts, according to manager Hansi Flick, who addressed the press on Saturday.
Currently leading LaLiga with 63 points, Barca will take on Girona on Sunday, only two days after their impressive 3-0 victory over Osasuna. Over the course of the next 17 days, the team has six matches lined up across various competitions.
“Recovery time can be unpredictable, even if you have an extra day or two. What awaits us from now until the season’s close is undoubtedly a significant challenge,” Flick remarked to reporters.
“We are prepared and determined to fight until the final whistle of the season. I feel a great sense of pride regarding our performance against Osasuna.”
Flick confirmed that there are no new fitness issues within the squad, yet he remained non-committal regarding Osasuna’s appeal to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), which contends that Barcelona should have refrained from playing defender Inigo Martinez, who missed recent international matches due to injury.
“My focus is solely on the upcoming match. We have a packed schedule ahead of us. This situation is beyond my control, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens. I’m not aware of any further developments,” stated the 60-year-old German coach.
“Our aim is to secure victories in every home match, while also tackling our away fixtures. With 10 games left, it is crucial that we take one match at a time. The remaining fixtures will become increasingly shorter and tougher for our competitors.”
