West Coast’s prominent player Tim Kelly has been omitted from the squad ahead of the upcoming match against Carlton on Saturday.
On Wednesday, Tom Morris from 9News Melbourne revealed that the Eagles’ sluggish start to the season, combined with Kelly’s inconsistent performance, led to the decision to drop the club’s 2023 best and fairest winner.
The Eagles will miss the services of the 30-year-old midfielder as they aim for a much-needed victory during Gather Round at Adelaide Oval.

Kelly’s manager issued a statement to 9News Melbourne regarding the situation.
“He’s understandably disappointed but acknowledges the decision, knowing his form hasn’t met his own expectations,” said Anthony Van Der Wielen.
“He regards this as a chance to regroup, boost his confidence, and aims to return to the senior lineup soon.”
“Tim is a proud player and a natural leader. He is among the most motivated and self-aware athletes I have encountered.”
“He firmly believes he can reclaim his best performance shortly.”
