The Wallabies will prepare for this year’s Test series against the British and Irish Lions with a match against Fiji in Newcastle.
Rugby Australia confirmed on Tuesday that the “Flying Fijians” are set to compete against the Wallabies at McDonald Jones Stadium on Sunday, July 6.
This will be Australia’s sole outing in the lead-up to the three-Test series against the Lions, scheduled for July and August.
The upcoming match will be Fiji’s first trip to Australia since 2017, marking the Wallabies’ initial encounter with the South Pacific nation since the 2023 World Cup held in France.
“It’s fantastic to bring the squad together and experience a genuine Test match ahead of the British and Irish Lions series,” stated Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt.

“In their pursuit of reaching the semi-finals, Fiji fell just six points short of defeating England at the last World Cup in 2023.
“They achieved a notable victory against Wales in Cardiff last November, showcasing physicality and flair that makes them an exciting team to watch and challenging to take down.”
The three Tests between the Wallabies and Lions will be hosted at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium, the MCG, and Accor Stadium in Sydney.
