Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced the appointment of Thomas Frank, formerly of Brentford, as their new head coach, as confirmed on Thursday.
The Danish manager is set to lead the team in north London under a contract lasting until 2028, taking over from Ange Postecoglou, who was dismissed last Friday.
Spurs have agreed to pay a £10 million release clause to secure Frank’s services from Brentford, where he had two years remaining on his contract.
Frank began his tenure at Brentford in October 2018 and successfully guided the club to Premier League promotion through the Championship playoffs in 2021.
During his four seasons at the helm, he made a significant impact by solidifying Brentford’s position in the top tier, all while operating on a relatively tight budget.
Brentford concluded the last season in 10th position, in stark contrast to Tottenham, who ended up in a disappointing 17th place.
The Spurs’ lacklustre domestic performance prompted chairman Daniel Levy to part ways with Postecoglou, despite the club’s success in the Europa League.
Postecoglou secured Spurs’ first trophy in 17 years with a win in the Bilbao final, yet he was dismissed merely 16 days after his triumph.
