Tijjani Reijnders has explained his choice to leave AC Milan and join Manchester City.
The Dutch midfielder completed his €55 million (£46.5m) transfer just in time to be eligible for registration with City ahead of the Club World Cup.
“My father received a call from them at the end of the season, as they were searching for a number eight. There was never any doubt in my mind about wanting to move to Manchester City; it’s undoubtedly one of the biggest clubs in the world right now,” Reijnders shared with Sky Sports.

“The decision was straightforward to make. Milan will always hold a special place in my heart; I had two wonderful seasons there and met some fantastic people. However, I also need to consider the sporting opportunities available.
“I have ambitions I want to achieve in my career, and I firmly believe I can reach those ambitions here at City in a shorter timeframe.”
Pep’s the best in the business
Reijnders also acknowledged that the opportunity to play under Pep Guardiola was a significant factor in his move.
“That’s a major aspect, of course; he’s regarded as the best coach in the world. I’m keen to learn new things and adapt to a different style of play. I’m genuinely excited about it,” he added.
He further stated: “I am a box-to-box player who enjoys carrying the ball, contributing in the build-up, and eventually linking up with the attacking phase to create assists and score goals. That’s exactly what I want to bring to City.”
