A Lieutenant from the Las Vegas police has extended an offer to players, providing his phone number for any situations that may arise following a recent incident involving two Raiders stars in a hotel scuffle.
With the season opener just days away in Sin City, Canberra players Hudson Young and Morgan Smithies found themselves involved in a late-night confrontation inside the team’s hotel elevator.
The duo is now facing disciplinary actions from the Raiders after an inflatable baseball bat was misidentified as a weapon, leading to their eviction from the hotel.
Raiders coach Ricky Stuart spoke on the matter on Monday, with Young and Smithies addressing the media on Tuesday (Australian time) to issue their apologies.

Las Vegas police Lieutenant Kendall Bell speaks to Today. Nine
Authorities did not intervene during the incident, although Lieutenant Kendall Bell noted that the nature of the altercation was not unfamiliar to him.
“Throughout my sports career, I’ve often experienced heated moments with teammates,” Bell shared with Nine’s Today on Tuesday.
“It was reportedly about a room reservation, but I’d wager that alcohol played a role as well.
“I don’t believe it’s a major issue. [The inflatable baseball bat] is something you often find with drinks… I imagine it was part of the drink package.”

Bell acknowledged the NRL’s efforts to ensure that this incident does not overshadow the events, with player welfare and safety being of the utmost importance for the league.
Despite the heightened focus on security, Bell pledged his team’s commitment to maintaining the safety of everyone in attendance.
“I’m happy to share my number with you, so if you encounter any issues, don’t hesitate to call me,” he told Today host Karl Stefanovic, who will be present for the significant event.
“I made the same offer to all players. If they ever require assistance, even for finding a restaurant, they can reach out to me directly.
“The NRL is heavily involved,” he continued.
“They’re dedicated to ensuring that players come here prepared for what’s in store for them in Las Vegas.
“They’re providing resources to guarantee their safety and enjoyment. I’m incredibly impressed with that operation.”
All the excitement in Las Vegas will kick off with a Super League match on Sunday, featuring the Jillaroos taking on England, alongside two NRL clashes, concluding with the reigning champions Penrith facing off against the Sharks.
