LAS VEGAS: The NRL is looking into an allegation that an assistant coach from the Warriors physically assaulted an English journalist during half-time of the club’s opening match against Canberra.
Richard Agar, the Warriors’ assistant coach who comes from England, is accused of seizing the unnamed journalist by the throat within the press box at Allegiant Stadium.
The journalist, representing The Guardian, has also stated that Agar subjected him to verbal abuse during this incident.
The NRL is aware of the claims and is set to initiate an investigation in the coming days.

The governing body will also seek CCTV footage of the incident from stadium officials.
The animosity appears to originate from 2022, when the journalist penned an article suggesting Agar should be dismissed from his position as coach of Leeds in the UK Super League.
Warriors CEO Cameron George has been informed of the alleged clash and intends to conduct an independent inquiry once the team arrives back in Auckland on Monday (AEST).
This unfortunate incident marred what was otherwise a spectacular showcase of football in Sin City.
