On Friday, the schedule for the upcoming season of the Danish Superliga was unveiled, revealing that newly crowned champions FC Copenhagen will kick off their campaign with an away match against Viborg.
The reigning champions will be hoping to put past memories behind them, especially given their previous outing against Viborg, where they squandered a 2-0 lead at half-time, ultimately losing 2-3 to the team from Jutland back in March.
On the opening day, promoted side Fredericia will host FC Nordsjaelland in what promises to be an exciting clash on Sunday, 20 July.
Meanwhile, OB, who claimed the Nordic Bet League title ahead of Fredericia, will take on runners-up FC Midtjylland on the same Sunday.
Other matches scheduled for the first round include Vejle against Randers, Sonderjyske facing AGF, and Brondby squaring off against Silkeborg.
Currently, only the fixtures for the first seven rounds of the season have been released.
Come the seventh round, Brondby, who secured bronze in the previous season, will welcome FC Midtjylland to their home ground on 31 August.
Following this, the much-anticipated “New Firm” derby between Brondby and FC Copenhagen is on the horizon, set to take place at Brondby Stadium, with the exact date and time yet to be confirmed.
In total, the regular season will consist of 22 rounds.
