Real Betis extended their winless streak at home after initially taking the lead for the seventh time this season in LaLiga, as Valencia rallied to secure a 1-1 draw at the Estadio Benito Villamarín.
Having already secured sixth place, Betis aimed to build some momentum before their upcoming UEFA Conference League final against Chelsea.
Manuel Pellegrini’s squad started strong, but they struggled to turn their dominance into clear opportunities, with their first shots on target only arriving in the 25th minute, when Isco was thwarted twice in quick succession.
Undeterred, Betis eventually broke the deadlock just before half-time.
Antony showcased his composure after receiving a pass from Isco just inside the box, curling a brilliant left-footed shot just inside the far post to put his team ahead, putting an end to a three-match goal drought.
The restart unfolded quietly, reflecting the end-of-season vibe of a match with little riding on it, although Valencia still had a slim chance of achieving a top-half finish.
That possibility remained alive thanks to a remarkable save from Giorgi Mamardashvili, who propelled himself to the right to deny Abde Ezzalzouli’s attempt from reaching the corner.
This save proved pivotal 15 minutes from time, when Rafa Mir seized on Andre Almeida’s pass to fire a precise strike into the bottom corner, marking his first LaLiga goal for the club.
With new momentum behind them, Carlos Corberan’s side pressed for a winner in the dying moments but ultimately had to settle for a draw, meaning they wrapped up the season without a victory in their last three matches.
This result marked a seventh consecutive visit to Betis without a win for Valencia, while the hosts remain firmly focused on their upcoming Conference League final against Chelsea next week.
