In an unforgettable evening where 31-year-old Harry Kane celebrated his first major trophy lift, Bayern Munich secured their unprecedented 34th Bundesliga title with a composed 2-0 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach in their concluding home fixture of the 2024/25 season.
Kane’s accolade was already a certainty well before the match began, as Bayern’s 12th championship in 13 years was clinched the previous week, courtesy of Bayer Leverkusen’s stalemate with Freiburg.
As expected, the Allianz Arena buzzed with excitement on Saturday evening in Bavaria, although it was the visitors who initially came close to scoring.
The opportunity fell to Stefan Lainer, who advanced towards goal and unleashed a shot from distance, which was comfortably saved by Manuel Neuer.
It wasn’t until just after the half-hour mark that Bayern truly made their presence felt in the attack.
They made it count when stand-out performer Michael Olise cut in from the right onto his left foot, and his shot was deftly deflected into the net by Kane, with the English striker securing his first piece of silverware along with his 25th Bundesliga goal this season.
This marked the only goal of the opening half, as neither side managed to pose a threat before the break.
Bayern continued to dominate after the restart and came agonisingly close to extending their lead when Raphael Guerreiro’s shot swerved just over the bar after connecting with Olise’s cutback.
Next up, Thomas Muller – in his farewell appearance at the Allianz Arena – nearly found the net, but his shot went straight into the arms of Jonas Omlin. Gladbach then nearly equalised just before the hour, but Neuer was alert enough to thwart Rocco Reitz at the near post.

Normal service resumed as Bayern continued to press for more goals, with Leroy Sane forcing a sharp save from Omlin with a powerful low shot from the edge of the area.
The Allianz Arena exploded in cheers during the 84th minute when Muller was substituted, with fans rising to their feet to give the club legend a heartfelt ovation, despite him being unable to add to his tally of 150 goals for Bayern.
As Gladbach struggled to regain their footing, Bayern finally secured their second goal in the dying moments, setting off the title celebrations in earnest as Olise found the net in the 90th minute after being set up by Sane, bringing their remarkable home league record to 14 wins out of 17 this season.
With this being their last home game, the 34-time champions reveled in the festivities following the final whistle, basking in the glory of a trophy presentation in true Bavarian style.
