Reports from the UK indicate that Nick Kyrgios will not be featured in this year’s Wimbledon coverage for the BBC.
The Telegraph suggests that the British broadcaster has decided against inviting the former finalist back for commentary duties after facing significant backlash from both politicians and fans regarding his participation last year.
Kyrgios was offered the commentary role a year after a court in Canberra dismissed charges against him for assaulting his former partner, Chiara Passari, in which he had previously entered a guilty plea.
Additionally, the report from The Telegraph mentions that Kyrgios will also not be part of ESPN’s coverage of the tournament.
He had served as a commentator for the US outlet during the Australian Open in January, following his first-round exit to Jacob Fearnley.
Although Kyrgios had intended to compete at Wimbledon in 2025, unlike last year, he has now withdrawn due to injury.

Kyrgios announced on social media, “I’ve encountered a minor setback in my recovery and, regrettably, I won’t be returning for the grass season this year. I know many of you have been eager to see me compete, and I sincerely apologise for letting you down. However, this is simply a hurdle, and I’m already putting in the effort to comeback even stronger.”
The decision to hire Kyrgios last year ignited a fierce response from women’s rights groups and politicians alike.
Conservative MP Caroline Nokes stated at the time, “The BBC should be ashamed of this appointment. It’s disgraceful and demonstrates complete disrespect towards women.”
She added, “Not content with underpaying their female staff and pushing out women as they age, they’ve now brought in a man who has admitted to assaulting a woman for Wimbledon.”
In recent years, Kyrgios has struggled to stay on the court, dealing with an abdominal strain that nearly derailed his comeback at the Australian Open, where he was defeated in the first round at Melbourne Park.
He has only managed four appearances this year, citing ongoing wrist issues.
