Nick Daicos is determined to ensure that his pre-season injury does not overshadow his return in 2025.
The star from the 2023 premiership has been coping with what Collingwood has described as mild plantar fasciitis since last month.
This has significantly affected his pre-season, limiting him to light training away from the main group.
However, the 22-year-old is gradually getting back to full fitness, already participating in running and contact drills.
“I’ve just been gradually building up my fitness over the pre-season and feel pretty much pain-free now. It’s incredibly exciting,” he shared with 9News Melbourne on Tuesday.

“I’m starting to regain my fitness and it’s fantastic to be back out there with the boys.
“I’m thrilled that matches are just around the corner.”
Despite the setback affecting his pre-season preparation, the young talent expressed relief that his injury occurred before the competitive season.
“Everyone faces injuries at some point. Thankfully, mine happened during the pre-season rather than during the actual season,” he reflected.

“As long as we manage it effectively—which the club has been exceptional with—I’m confident it won’t pose any issues.”
The Magpies are scheduled to face Richmond in a pre-season match on February 26 at Ikon Park.
They will then gear up for their opening match against GWS at Engie Stadium on March 9.
