Fans at Ironbark Fields on Saturday afternoon were left in shock when Western United’s Chloe Berryhill (formerly Yallop) took to the pitch against Adelaide United, sporting her new surname on the back of her jersey.
The biggest surprise, however, belonged to her wife, McKenzie Berryhill, who was watching from the stands in Tarneit, completely unaware of what was about to unfold.

Moving forward, the talented midfielder, formerly known in Australian football as Chloe Logarzo, will be recognised as Chloe Berryhill following her marriage to McKenzie last November.
After Western’s 3-1 defeat to Adelaide in the Ninja A-League, Berryhill shared with Network 10 that she had always intended to change her surname but planned to wait until the end of her playing days.
However, as she revealed, it felt like the perfect moment to introduce her new surname to the world in a heartfelt tribute to her wife.
“A significant moment for me,” Logarzo expressed.
“Having my wife in attendance, I decided to keep this a surprise. We often discussed how I wouldn’t switch from Logarzo to Berryhill until my retirement, but I felt it was time to make the change.
“I’m extremely proud and privileged to wear the name Berryhill. I will always carry the Logarzo name in my heart; I play with it on my sleeve, but it’s wonderful to express my identity with my wife in the crowd. I’m looking forward to the journey ahead with her.
“I feel overjoyed and honoured to wear it.”
