On Wednesday, Manchester City officially revealed the acquisition of Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan, securing the midfielder with a five-year contract for a reported fee of £46.3 million.
The 26-year-old Dutch player, who is the fourth signing for City this week, expressed his delight at joining Pep Guardiola’s squad.
Earlier this week, the club confirmed the arrivals of midfielder Rayan Cherki from Lyon and Chelsea’s backup goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli on Tuesday, while left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri made his move from Wolves on Monday.
Reijnders, who transferred to AC Milan from AZ Alkmaar in 2023, netted 15 goals during his time with the Italian club in the 2024/25 season.
His addition will enhance Guardiola’s midfield options in light of Kevin De Bruyne’s departure.
“I am over the moon to be joining Manchester City,” Reijnders stated.
“City ranks among the elite teams globally, featuring the best coach, world-class talent, and exceptional facilities.”
Football director Hugo Viana commented: “He arrives here with a wealth of experience at the highest level in Europe, both with his clubs and on the international stage with the Netherlands.
“Tijjani brings added energy, composure, and creativity to our midfield, and working with Pep and our coaching staff will only help him continue to develop.”
