Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe did not take part in Saturday’s training session with the team and is likely to miss the 15-time European champions’ Group H fixture against Pachuca at the Club World Cup as he recovers from an illness, according to the club.
This week, Mbappe was hospitalised in the Miami area due to acute gastroenteritis. A club representative confirmed that he remained at the team hotel and would not be travelling to Charlotte, North Carolina, for the match on Sunday.
Mbappe was unavailable for Real’s initial match against Al-Hilal, which concluded in a 1-1 draw, leaving RB Salzburg at the top of the table with three points after defeating Mexican side Pachuca 2-1.
Since Tuesday, Mbappe has been kept away from his teammates, and he was admitted to hospital on Wednesday before being released on Thursday.
A club insider informed earlier this week that Mbappe would not be participating in any group matches during the Club World Cup.
