Burnley have secured the services of seasoned defender Kyle Walker from Manchester City.
The 35-year-old right-back has signed a two-year contract at Turf Moor, reuniting him with his former Tottenham teammate, Scott Parker, who is now the manager of the Clarets.
“I’m thrilled to be here,” Walker expressed following the announcement of his signing on Saturday.
“When I had a chat with Scott and learned about his vision for the upcoming season, it was an opportunity I simply couldn’t pass up. He has done an outstanding job, steering the club back to the Premier League with an impressive 100-point tally, and now we’re eagerly looking ahead to competing in the greatest league in the world.”
“Burnley enjoyed a remarkable season last year, primarily built on a solid defensive foundation, and I can’t wait to come in and contribute my experience and skills to what seems to be an exciting squad.”
Walker spent the latter half of last season on loan at AC Milan, where he made 16 appearances across all competitions.
However, the Serie A club opted not to exercise the option to make the move permanent, meaning he leaves City after an illustrious eight-year stint.
During his time with the club, Walker collected 17 trophies, including six Premier League titles and the Champions League, playing a crucial role in their treble triumph in the 2022/23 season.
He has accumulated 410 appearances in the Premier League and has been capped 96 times by the England national team.
