Brazilian forward Vinicius Jr has expressed his contentment at Real Madrid, stating he desires to extend his contract with the LaLiga club at the earliest opportunity, downplaying any speculation regarding interest from the Saudi Pro League.
Since joining Real in 2018, Vinicius has celebrated three LaLiga titles, along with two Champions League victories and two Club World Cup triumphs.
He has netted 102 goals across all competitions for Real and made his 300th appearance for the club during Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Real Betis.
“I’m feeling quite relaxed as my contract runs until 2027, and I hope to renew it as soon as possible because I’m genuinely happy here,” Vinicius stated at a press conference on Monday, in anticipation of Tuesday’s derby against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League round of 16.
According to Reuters last month, Real Madrid was nearing an agreement for a contract extension with Vinicius.
“I’m living the dream of playing alongside the world’s finest players, with the best coach, the best president, and the most passionate fans. I am adored here; it couldn’t get any better,” Vinicius added.
Having recently won the FIFA Men’s Player of the Year Award for 2024, he remarked that fulfilling his childhood dream of succeeding at Real Madrid has been a significant achievement.
“Having reached this point, I am now crafting my own narrative,” the 24-year-old said.
“I’ve had my victories, yet there’s more to come, and I aim to leave my mark in the club’s history. It’s a challenging goal because many exceptional players, who are legends, have been here, and I aspire to be like them.”
