Pachuca forward John Kennedy is eagerly anticipating the challenge of facing Real Madrid in the FIFA Club World Cup, genuinely believing his team has a solid chance of advancing from the group stage.
The Brazilian, currently on loan from Fluminense, who are also participating in the Club World Cup, will compete against RB Salzburg, Real Madrid, and Al Hilal, with the top two teams progressing to the knockout stage from Group H.
For Kennedy, the primary objective is to advance through the group, while also raising awareness of the Mexican club’s presence on the global stage.
He shared his thoughts: “The name Pachuca will continue to gain recognition. I believe this competition is crucial for that. My hope is that we can progress beyond the first stage, reach the next round, and compete directly against the top teams from Europe, South America, Asia, and beyond.”
“I truly believe we can compete effectively and have a successful tournament. It’s what every professional player aspires to: to face off against great teams.”

Among the trio of matches scheduled during the group stage, one stands out for Kennedy – the encounter with the Galacticos, Real Madrid.
When discussing the Spanish giants, he remarked: “Facing Real Madrid is going to be an incredible experience, one that I can hardly put into words. It’s bound to be a beautiful moment, and I’m certain I’ll relish every second spent on the pitch.”
“This kind of experience motivates the entire team, not just me. The key is to keep competing, to maintain our unity as a team. To triumph over a top-tier club, we must be cohesive and play well together. I believe we need to play freely, enjoy the game.”
While taking points from Real Madrid will be a formidable task, Kennedy is confident that the positive environment within their camp will contribute to their success in the USA.
The 23-year-old expressed: “Of course, we respect every team, particularly the best in the world. However, on the field, we must play with freedom, we need to execute our game plan effectively.”
“The most important factor is to be a team that plays light-heartedly, aiming to secure a victory against the best team globally. The camaraderie is fantastic; we share a lot of laughs. The atmosphere here is just superb.”
“The dressing room at Pachuca is a wonderful space, where everyone is very close and share strong friendships. I truly believe we have everything in place for a fantastic and successful year in 2025.”
