Harry Kane, the striker for Bayern Munich, has cautioned his teammates against becoming complacent following their impressive 5-0 aggregate triumph over Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League, emphasising the need for continuous improvement.
Kane netted once and assisted Alphonso Davies for another goal as Bayern secured a comfortable 2-0 victory in the second leg at Leverkusen on Tuesday, successfully advancing to the quarter-finals.
“We demonstrated the calibre of our team. Our goal is to develop within this competition. We’ve faced challenges in the past in this tournament, and I believe we’ve taken valuable lessons from those experiences,” Kane shared with Amazon Prime.
“As we progress, it’s essential that we keep learning. Now, we’ve reached the quarter-finals, which is where Bayern Munich belongs, and we intend to keep pushing forward.“
Bayern is set to face three-time European champions Inter Milan in the quarter-finals, while Kane has etched his name in history as the first English player to score 10 goals in a single season of the European Cup or the Champions League.
“The San Siro is a challenging venue, but we believe we can create problems for any team we face,” he remarked.
“We will prepare thoroughly and look for opportunities to exploit their weaknesses. This is a crucial chance to advance to the semi-finals of the Champions League, and we’ll be ready for it.“
