Leroy Sane bid farewell to Bayern Munich supporters in a video shared on social media this Thursday, as the German winger edges closer to finalising a move to Turkish club Galatasaray.
Galatasaray, the reigning champions of the Turkish Super Lig, confirmed that they have opened transfer negotiations with Sane, with the 29-year-old Germany international currently in Istanbul.
Sane joined Bayern in 2020 after signing a five-year contract from the English club Manchester City, where he secured the Premier League title in both 2018 and 2019. He is set to join Galatasaray on a free transfer following the expiration of his Bayern contract at the end of June.
During his time at Bayern, he has celebrated winning the Bundesliga four times, including the latest season, as well as two DFL-Supercups, one UEFA Super Cup, and a Club World Cup.
“Dear Bayern fans, after five incredible years in Munich, I have chosen to embark on a new adventure next season,” Sane wrote on Instagram.
“I am immensely proud to have represented the best and largest club in Germany for over 200 matches, and I will always treasure the titles we’ve achieved together.
“A heartfelt thank you to the club, the coaching staff, everyone who works behind the scenes, my teammates, and particularly you, the fans, for the time we’ve spent together and the unforgettable memories. I will always be grateful for my experience here, Bayern!”
Sane has earned 70 caps for Germany, netting 61 goals and providing 55 assists in 220 appearances across all competitions for Bayern.
