Ticket fraud is reaching alarming levels ahead of the Nations League match at Parken Stadium, where Denmark will take on Portugal.
This could be one of the final opportunities for football aficionados to witness the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo, aged 40, grace the pitch in Denmark. As a result, many Danish fans are going to extraordinary lengths to secure tickets for this highly anticipated encounter.
However, the overwhelming demand for tickets has created a ripe environment for fraudulent activities. The Danish FA is receiving numerous reports from individuals who have fallen victim to these scams.
“We understand how incredibly frustrating it can be to be deceived, and we sympathise with fans who become targets of such scams. Our ticketing team is here to provide information and assistance, and we are also prepared to help guide individuals on how to report incidents to the police, ensuring that no one has to face this struggle alone,” stated Erik Brøgger, CEO of the Danish FA, in an interview with TV2 Sport.
Particularly on social media platforms, a large number of fake tickets are being advertised at attractive prices, drawing in many eager supporters. Unfortunately, individuals often fall prey to counterfeit or non-existent tickets that are sold multiple times.
The Facebook group Danes Away, a community of roughly 38,000 Danish football fans, has seen a significant uptick in inquiries from those who either suspect they have been scammed or have indeed been swindled by sellers in various Facebook groups.
Denmark is set to face Portugal in Copenhagen on Thursday evening.
