Liam Livingstone, the star from England, has spoken out following their disappointing opening match against Australia in the ICC Champions Trophy, asserting that they were not deserving of the loss.
After the English side set a competitive total of 8-351 in their first innings, largely thanks to an impressive century from Ben Duckett, it appeared as though the Australian team would face a tough challenge.
The chase began on a shaky note, with early wickets of key players Travis Head and Steve Smith, but an unbeaten century from Josh Inglis ultimately guided Australia to victory.
With this win, Australia set a new record for the highest successful chase in tournament history.

Despite managing only 14 runs himself, Livingstone feels that England’s performance should have been good enough to clinch a victory.
“That was certainly the most frustrating part – we executed a great deal of our game plan effectively,” he commented to BBC.
“I honestly don’t think that our performance warranted a loss.
“There were a couple of pivotal moments that we potentially let slip, but I felt like we were in control for much of the match. Ultimately, if you end up on the losing side … we now have to win both of our remaining matches, it’s as simple as that.
“What do we need to do to secure that win? If we can replicate what we showed yesterday, we will be well on our way to achieving that.
“Just refining a few skills could have added 15 or 20 more runs to our total … but then again, would that have been sufficient? Who knows?”

To remain in contention for the knockout stage, England must now secure victories against both Afghanistan and South Africa.
Livingstone acknowledges that their upcoming match against Afghanistan, known for their strong spin attack, will present a significant challenge.
“Afghanistan are a formidable side,” he remarked.
“They boast numerous match-winners, and this encounter will be unique due to their reliance on spinners.”
Australia’s next challenge will be against South Africa on Tuesday evening.
