Carlton midfielder Elijah Hollands will not participate in the upcoming match against GWS this week, having opted to step back for personal reasons.
Now 23, Hollands initially took personal leave just before the start of Carlton’s season and has since chosen to take another break, after featuring for the Blues in five games this year.
This decision highlights the crucial issue of mental health, especially in light of the recent tragic passing of West Coast premiership player Adam Selwood.

“Elijah’s personal health and wellbeing have been, and will continue to be, our top priority during this time,” the statement noted.
“The journey regarding mental health is not always straightforward,” expressed Carlton’s footy boss Brad Lloyd. “As a club, we will ensure Elijah receives all the time, care, and support he requires.”
The Blues are set to take on GWS at Marvel Stadium this Saturday afternoon.
