Juventus manager Thiago Motta (42) voiced his worries regarding his team’s erratic finishing after they battled to a narrow victory against struggling Cagliari in Serie A on Sunday.
Motta’s side secured their fourth league win in a row, but the 1-0 scoreline prompted him to critique their lack of accuracy in front of goal.
“We created numerous opportunities in the first half, and I knew going into the break that failing to convert would come back to haunt us, which it ultimately did,” Motta remarked to DAZN.
“In the second half, we were a bit unclear in our approach. While we managed to contain Cagliari without conceding, we didn’t maintain the dominance we had earlier. They took control of the match, and we can’t let our opponents assume that position.”
Motta commended Dusan Vlahovic (25), who marked his contribution to the club by being involved in 50 goals across 95 Serie A fixtures.
“He earns his place in the team through his efforts. We’ve built an exceptional rapport. He’s got a robust character and mentality. Today, he displayed remarkable professionalism and supports his teammates well. It’s a pleasure to manage a talent like him.”
Juventus now face a challenging task with 12 matches remaining as they aim to close the eight-point gap behind league leaders Inter Milan, who maintain a slender advantage over Napoli, following the latter’s unexpected defeat at Como.
“We need to focus on one match at a time, particularly as we enter this crucial phase of the season,” Motta added. “The league is incredibly competitive, and we’ve witnessed struggles among the top teams this weekend as well.”
