Parramatta’s coach, Jason Ryles, has lauded Dylan Brown for prioritising the team’s interests following the announcement of his significant contract with the Newcastle Knights.
In March, Brown became the talk of the NRL after it was revealed he would be joining the Knights on a staggering 10-year deal potentially worth up to $14 million by 2026.
The way the situation unfolded drew criticism, as the expectations on Brown mounted, and the star five-eighth faced a somewhat unfriendly reception from Eels supporters.
Speculation then arose regarding the possibility of Brown leaving the Eels sooner than anticipated, although Ryles quickly dismissed such rumours.
Having started to find his rhythm alongside his halves partner, Mitchell Moses, Ryles expressed admiration for Brown’s ability to block out the external distractions.
“I think it comes down to Dylan’s attitude towards everything,” Ryles stated in an interview with Nine, referring to Brown’s enhanced performances in recent weeks.

“There was certainly a lot of chatter around. Discussions about his potential move to Newcastle were prevalent.
“Ultimately, I believe it all stems from his mindset about it.
“I understood the tough position he was in, and it was a situation he had to navigate in the end.
“He might have felt a touch adrift for a couple of weeks, but credit where it’s due; his commitment to the team and his work ethic shines through.
“Now, he’s come through that phase and is starting to play some outstanding footy, which is gratifying to see.”
