On Monday evening, Austrian club RB Salzburg announced the signing of Brøndby captain Jacob Rasmussen.
“I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone connected with Brøndby IF for my time at the club, along with the numerous fans who have supported us week in and week out,” commented Rasmussen.
“From the very first day, I felt welcomed, and I truly value that. A special thanks to all my teammates, as without their support, I wouldn’t be where I am now,” he added.
“I am both proud and excited to join RB Salzburg, and I am ready to give my all. RB Salzburg has a prestigious reputation in European football, and the professionalism here is impressive.” He continued, “Like the club, I am eager for victories and titles, and I understand the potential here, which makes this move feel just right. I didn’t need much time to decide. My goal is to make a significant impact from day one and impress everyone with my performances.”
Rouven Schröder, the Sporting Director at Red Bull Salzburg, expressed his delight at Jacob Rasmussen’s decision to further his career in Austria.
“Jacob Rasmussen is a player who brings a wealth of experience, and he is fluent in German, English, and Danish, making him a natural leader. His ability to open up play with his left foot and his commanding presence on the pitch will greatly benefit our team. We had very constructive discussions with him, and we are excited to welcome him aboard,” stated Schröder.
The 28-year-old central defender has garnered experience in several top European leagues, including the Eredivisie and Serie A, having previously played for Feyenoord, Vitesse Arnhem, and FC Empoli.
Most recently, he represented Brøndby, where he was not only a crucial part of the defensive line, making 70 appearances over two years, but also served as the team’s captain.
