Aston Villa’s Emery Gears Up for Challenge Posed by ‘Cunning’ Crystal Palace

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery (53) addressed the media in his latest press conference as he prepares for a clash against Crystal Palace this Tuesday evening.

The hopes of Villa securing a European spot were bolstered by their 2-1 victory over Chelsea at the weekend, with winter acquisitions Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio playing pivotal roles in securing a vital three points.

A positive result against Palace could see Emery’s side leapfrog the Blues, with the manager emphasising the significance of claiming a European berth.

“It all depends on our response tomorrow. The league is well underway, and with fewer matches remaining, we must make up for the points we’ve dropped. 

“However, we’re feeling optimistic and are working towards being tactically astute and mentally strong again. We made some strategic signings during the transfer window, but we need time to rejuvenate our players. Every day and match presents a new challenge.” 

The Villa head coach also provided a status update on Tyrone Mings and Morgan Rogers, who have been feeling the strain of a demanding season. 

“We’ll be training this afternoon, so let’s see how things go. Our match on Saturday required a massive physical and mental effort, so it’s crucial that we recover before tomorrow.” 

“There’s always a level of difficulty as we head into the next fixture.” 

“They’ve made a solid recovery after a rocky start, and they’re improving considerably.
