The victor of The Masters is traditionally presented with a green jacket featuring the emblem of Augusta National on its chest.
However, on Thursday morning (AEST), Aussie golfer Cameron Smith opted for a blue jacket while participating in a practice session in preparation for the opening round.
Smith is aiming for his first major title since securing the 2022 British Open at St Andrews, just before making the switch to the LIV Golf Series, backed by Saudi Arabia.

While the choice may seem unusual, commentators pointed out that there is a strategic reasoning behind it.
“This isn’t a common sight… Cam tends to make his swing a bit long, and his arms can stray at times,” one explained.
“Wearing a jacket helps keep the arms closer together.”
“It looks smart and formal, but it also restricts movement.”
Smith finished in a tie for sixth at Augusta last year and has secured a top-10 finish in four of the past five tournaments.
The 2025 Masters campaign for Smith kicks off at 10:50 pm on Thursday. He will compete alongside JT Poston and Aaron Rai for his first two rounds.
