The captain of the GWS Giants, Toby Greene, faced an unfortunate incident on a chilly evening in Canberra, as he went down during the opening quarter against Port Adelaide.
Port were preparing to enter their attacking zone when the Giants managed to clear the ball, with Greene attempting to mark it in the centre square.
As he did so, Power defender Aliir Aliir came in from behind, aiming to spoil Greene’s play, but ended up colliding with Greene’s hip using his knee.
Unable to secure the mark, Greene fell to his knees in clear distress, gripping his hip in pain.
“He goes down as if he’s been shot … Toby’s in genuine pain,” commentator Anthony Hudson remarked on Fox Footy.

Leigh Montagna noted: “That’s going to sting, especially on a cold night like this … Keep it warm; once that cools down, it’s going to be excruciating.”
The incident unfolded with just 40 seconds remaining in the quarter, and Fox Footy’s coverage indicated that Greene received treatment from physios for the majority of the break.
“He was in significant discomfort,” Alastair Lynch added.
Port Adelaide was leading by two points at the first break.
