After securing the Champions League title for the first time in Paris Saint-Germain’s history at the end of May, Luis Enrique has turned his attention towards clinching the Club World Cup this summer.
PSG, who triumphed over Inter with a resounding 5-0 victory in the Champions League final on May 31st, now head to the United States for the 32-team tournament, potentially the best club side globally. Under the guidance of former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique, they have been transformed into an attacking powerhouse, showcasing fluid and free-flowing football.
Their youthful squad features talents such as Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue, and Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, and the manager is eager to challenge his team against a variety of opponents outside Europe.
“This is a fresh and truly exhilarating competition, marking the first time in history that a Club World Cup will decide the best team in the world among 32 qualified sides, and at first glance, it’s incredibly thrilling.

“I believe it’s fantastic for the fans. The more football we have on our screens, the better, and I think everyone will enjoy it.
“Typically, during a national team FIFA World Cup, every football supporter supports their own country, while also having a second or third team they cheer for.
“In this tournament, fans whose teams are not participating in the Club World Cup will have the chance to follow clubs they admire from Europe, Africa, America, or Asia, given that only 32 teams worldwide are included.
“It will certainly be a celebration of football for the fans, and I believe it can establish a global standard for competitions in the future.”
PSG will face Atletico Madrid and Brazilian club Botafogo before concluding their Group B campaign against the Seattle Sounders in their home city on the West Coast.
The Parisians are widely anticipated to advance from their group without a hitch, but the manager remains cautious, recognising the unpredictability inherent in knockout football should they progress that far.
“Football is a sport that defies norms, and anything can happen in a competition as brief as the Club World Cup, because remember that once you reach the round of 16, each match is a one-off, as are the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final.
“Football is renowned for its surprises. The goal remains the same in every competition: to put ourselves in a position to win. Our aim is clear: to compete until the end, to progress as far as possible, and to seize the opportunity to win it.”
Enrique made these remarks ahead of the forthcoming FIFA Club World Cup. Catch all 63 matches live on DAZN for free.
