Melbourne City has announced that Rhianna Pollicina will be leaving the club following the expiration of her contract.
Joining City from Newcastle Jets for the 2021-22 season, Pollicina made an impressive mark by finding the back of the net 29 times in 85 appearances. Her goal tally ranks as the second-highest for any Ninja A-League player in the club’s history.
A pivotal player in securing back-to-back Premiership titles for 2023-24 and 2024-25, Pollicina exits as a crucial part of the club’s recent achievements.
“It has been a privilege to don the City blue, and I feel incredibly lucky to have been involved with such a successful club,” expressed Pollicina.
“I’ve had the joy of playing alongside some remarkable teammates and will cherish the many wonderful memories created each season.”
“I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the fans who made my time at City so memorable. You will always have a special place in my heart.”

The 28-year-old is the first confirmed departure from the club after a season in which she made history by becoming the club’s first-ever goalscorer in the AFC Women’s Champions League.
City’s director of football, Michael Petrillo, praised Pollicina for her remarkable contributions to the team.
“Rhianna has been an outstanding player for us throughout the last four seasons. Her influence on the field is undeniable, and she has played a vital role in our recent accomplishments,” Petrillo commented.
“We are grateful for what she has brought to the club and wish her all the best as she embarks on the next chapter of her career.”
