Wrexham is set to make their long-awaited return to the second tier of English football, a journey they haven’t embarked on in 43 years, as they visit St Mary’s to take on Southampton on Saturday, 9th August.
Their comeback aligns with Birmingham City kicking off the Championship season, as they welcome Ipswich Town a day earlier.
Leicester City, who recently dropped out of the Premier League after just one campaign, will commence their Championship adventure at home against Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday, 10th August.
This relegation comes a decade after their remarkable Premier League title win in 2016, a milestone they will commemorate with a final-day match at Blackburn on 2nd May 2026.
Charlton Athletic, who earned promotion via the League One playoffs after a five-year hiatus, will start their Championship chapter at The Valley against Watford, now managed by Uruguayan coach Paulo Pezzolano.
Sheffield United, having faced heartbreak in last season’s playoff final against Sunderland, will kick off their campaign against Bristol City, the team they triumphed over in the semi-finals.
