Concerns are growing that Western Bulldogs midfielder Adam Treloar may not be fit for the beginning of the 2025 season due to persistent calf issues.
The 31-year-old sustained an injury during a training session at Whitten Oval last week, with scans indicating an acute muscle strain in his calf.
The club confirmed on Friday that Treloar will be out of action for approximately eight to ten weeks.
As part of his recovery, the veteran will enter a rehabilitation program, aiming for a return before the season kicks off.
Chris Bell, the head of sports medicine for the Bulldogs, elaborated on the strategies being implemented to ensure Treloar’s long-term fitness.

“Given the importance of consistent training and the significant pre-season preparation required for durability and peak performance throughout an AFL season, we must take a cautious approach towards Adam’s rehabilitation and reconditioning timeframe,” Bell stated in a club announcement on Friday.
The Bulldogs have not disclosed specifics regarding Treloar’s return-to-play strategy, as they want him to complete his rehabilitation before making any decisions.

He is likely to miss upcoming matches against North Melbourne, Collingwood, and Carlton.
Treloar had a standout season in 2024, highlighted by securing his first All-Australian blazer and finishing second in the Bulldogs’ best and fairest count.
Additionally, he celebrated the milestone of his 250th game.
